Aries’ Agreements

1st House of the Zodiac, ARIES – Mar. 21 – Apr. 19

The wheel of fortune has just completed its yearly revolution around the sun! The Spring Equinox on March 21st takes place in the first house of the zodiac, Aries, the cardinal fire sign initiating the beginning of a new zodiac year. Ever known a person born in the months of late March to mid-April and think, “This person really knows how to take charge?” Well, you probably didn’t realize that their “ready-to-rescue-others-on-their-backs” personality comes from the Greek legend, Jason and the Golden Fleece – or better known as Aries, the flying ram.

Serving it sweet with a bit of salt, Aries individuals have many wonderful, courageous, and noble traits about them with just as many conflicting and brute ones too. They are the fire sign in the cardinal square (Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) of the zodiac and their energy is captivating for when the new season changes, invigorating a sense of waking up from the thaw of winter. Aries has a unmistakable headstrong force about them, assuming positions of leadership fall naturally into their lap. This responsibility, however, of fulfilling their promises in the midst of said leadership becomes an arduous task of holding them accountable. Those with a Sun, Moon, or Rising in Aries or have Aries as a strong influence in their natal chart, embody the Martian strength from their ruling planet, Mars. Mars being another word for action, rules the day of the week Tuesday. Aries is the masculine version of Mars and shares its planetary influence with the feminine, fixed water sign, Scorpio. Aries’ ability to manage headwork is incomparable to all other zodiac signs and having multiple co-existing projects or things to-do at once is what they excel in. The Martian influence predominates aggression in this sign and with a consorted effort to react aggressively can be diverted when delays or inactivity take shape in their lives. Having a fighting mentality, Aries does experience obstacles at times and results to cutting their losses when they don’t have a breakthrough or when an event or situation won’t transpire. Aries’ wherewithal comes in being able to reprioritize what is most important to them in order to move into a completely new direction. Instead of working through obstacles to a solution or when a situation loses its novelty, Aries’ impatience and impulsivity can be fatal to their own personal growth.

Remember how chaotic the end of March 2019 was, feeling an escalation of pent up energy heading into April? This was due to Mercury retrograde in Pisces. Now going into April, we have Jupiter set to join Mercury as it shifts into it’s shadow phase before going direct. Trust me, Jupiter is just as impactful in the long run as Mercury is in the short term. Jupiter, the planet of luck, wisdom, and progress goes retrograde April 10th in the fellow fire sign of Sagittarius (it’s natural ruler) and will remain there until it goes direct in August 2019 in the sign of Capricorn. Jupiter retrograde has a plenty to offer Aries during this time by reflecting on experiences and asking them to weigh in on what newly found wisdom they’ve gained. Natives of Aries have strong ambition and their incessant drive to get projects off the ground can lead them to haphazardly pick up and drop off things more readily while their aims become scattered. This period in time with the retrograde in Sagittarius (the eternal student) asks Aries to step into a deeper truth and consider traveling to help ease the crossroads that Aries is facing. By looking inward Aries will be able to come to wiser decisions and let their penchant for curiosity guide them accordingly.

Don’t be fooled: Aries individuals are team players when necessary. Although at times, when plans fail or their created standard of right and wrong aren’t aligning with actual reality, they are quick to find fault and blame others in these situations. In order for Aries to become less headstrong and more heart-focused, they can benefit greatly from adopting the teachings from Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom. Universal truths from the ancient texts of Toltec wisdom (a central Mexican group of spiritual intellectuals that ruled over a thousand years go) provides Aries with a chance to become more consistent in the realms of: becoming impeccable with their word, not taking anything personally, not making assumptions, and always doing their best. Once they become more balanced with their energy Aries people promote and foster harmony and beauty. They exhibit loyalty, reliability, and they fight for what is considered right. Aries would be most inclined to take on these teachings first and put them into practice because after all, they are the pioneers of the zodiac.
