Scorpio Spinning a New Narrative

8th House of the Zodiac, SCORPIO — Oct. 22 — Nov. 21

Just like Geminis at 9.3%, Scorpios at 9.6% make up the most common zodiac sign in the US —they get a bad rep due to people associating their moment of consummation happening around Valentine’s Day…this may or may not be true. However true, the thought sparks some interesting correlations that include Virgos at 9.4%, that, our celebratory intimacy levels peek around the holidays — Halloween and Christmas as well. What does this say about our activity levels while the Sun is in the signs of: Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius? How powerful is Pluto, the ruling planet of Scorpio for it to be in the inception and manifestation seasons related to the most primordial instinct known to man?

Historically, Pluto was the last planet in our solar system to be discovered in 1930 by 23yr-old, Clyde Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. A treasure that we don’t fully understand the bulk of its influence, was downgraded into a dwarf planet in August 2006, excluding it from being a full planet due to not having “cleared the neighborhood” around its orbit. This conclusion was made by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) due to Pluto’s increased gravitational dominance in influencing other objects which surround it. Traveling around the Solar System, Pluto’s elliptical-like orbit around the sun causes it to have a cycle that is unfixed and atypical — meaning Pluto can remain in a single zodiac house anywhere between 14-28 yrs. Needless to say, Pluto had unknowingly been photographed by other astronomers before Tombaugh, but having made the discovery himself, gave him the right to name his findings. After receiving many suggestions, the name Pluto was introduced by an 11yr-old, ancient Greek and Roman mythology and astronomy enthusiast, Venetia Burney from Oxford, England. Pluto’s official name announcement was given on May 1st, 1930 to the icy distant planet. With a history of constant scientific changes, it wasn’t until NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flyby mission in the summer of 2015, that allowed for the discovery of Pluto’s blue skies, spinning moons, Rockies-high mountains and red snow to be known. Since the New Horizons flyby, every stereotype of Pluto being the icy planet/ruler of the underworld fact has been debunked.

When the Sun shifts into Scorpio on October 22, 2020, our need to transform tightens when we’re under Pluto’s influence. Plutonic energy symbolizes power, surrendering and collective action forcing us to undergo a death and rebirth process that we’re not quite sure how to internalize right in the thick of the holiday season. When the new year does roll around, however, in Capricorn Season 2021, we are ready to take on the new growth that Pluto has destined for us for several reasons. Pluto in modern astrology is the ruler of Scorpio, and in traditional astrology Mars holds this position. Planets have four cycles of which signs they like/dislike to spend time in the most: domicile(ruler), exaltation, detriment and fall. Pluto’s exaltation happens in the sign of Capricorn making its influential energies most heightened; its detriment in the sign of Taurus and fall in Cancer. Exaltation in Capricorn happens when Pluto goes direct in Capricorn on October 4th, 2020. This ends a five month karmic retrograde cycle of bringing our subconscious hidden fears, doubts and old patterns of behavior to light. Jupiter conjuncting Pluto at this time enlightens us to get honest and real with ourselves as this conjunction between these two planets has karmic implications if we’re willing to step up to the plate in healing ourselves, that is, if we put in the work.

Spiritually, if you have felt like you have been through an energetic cross-examination for the past fourteen years, this is why.

Pluto direct in Capricorn gives us collectively the opportunity to manifest and put into practice significant positive change into our lives. Its a beautiful transformative rebirthing moment to be brutally honest with ourselves in taking what resonates and leaving the rest behind  — signaling the opportunity for rebirth. What makes Pluto’s potency different from other planets is its regenerative properties to begin and start anew. Pluto dictates the power struggles and discords of generations. As it can remain in a sign anywhere between one to roughly three decades, it is highly unlikely for an individual to live to see Pluto return to the placement sign of their natal chart — hence it takes Pluto about 248 years to travel through all twelve houses of the zodiac. The only exception would be if that person chose to be biologically frozen and brought back to life in two centuries time… I digress.

Pluto unlocking the necessary metamorphosis that is required throughout our lifetimes comes as a tough pill to swallow, as not everyone is ready to enable change as its energy can be quite explosive to handle — but gives a profound sense of all is not lost and a chance to ease into the daunting feeling one might have of starting over. Pluto’s next retrograde is set to take place in Capricorn on April 27 – Oct. 6th, 2021. Those with strong natal chart placements or Sun, Moon, Rising/Ascendant in Scorpio will have better fortune fairing during these times, as their soul-binding connections carry them through the reincarnation process.

Those that simply have put in the work will know that the comeback is always stronger than the setback.

Scorpionic energy is far from feckless. Their intoxicatingly intense, demeanors culminate a personality of intuitively deep thinkers with mysteriously hidden passions and emotions. When Pluto reintroduces its retrograde energies back into our lives at the end of April 2021, those that have exalted Pluto, Scorpio or Aries placements in their natal charts, will be more accustomed to these intense energies as it is already perennial to their current lives. But oh how Plutonic energy makes us horny! As Pluto rules reproduction, our instinctual urges to procreate are magnified as well as to destroy. If during November 2020 your drive to fight and regenerate is at a low — as it has been an arduous year, the opportunity to gather up your tools in your spiritual toolbox to start over will present itself in the Pluto rx of 2021. As sexual vitality is one of the key building blocks to life and Plutonic power, the recommendation is to redirect those passions toward your own personal growth and projects. Taking on these endeavors will come easier as we won’t be dealing with a Mercury rx in Scorpio as we are in November 2020

Seeking truth at this time, recognize that all things that are in the dark will be brought to the light. Scorpio Season 2020 is cracking open the new you, embrace the universe’s redirection, as there are more things to celebrate in the months ahead.
